Saturday Scientists Program:
Where Imagination
Meets Exploration
What is The Saturday Scientists Program?
The Saturday Scientists Program is a joyful, community-rooted science experience for children ages 5–10, designed to make STEM exploration imaginative, inclusive, and deeply meaningful.
Born during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, this program has blossomed into a movement that engages young learners in monthly labs, field trips, storytelling, and hands-on science adventures.
Why It Matters
When schools shifted during the pandemic, many young learners, especially those in marginalized communities, lost their spark for discovery. Saturday Scientists was born to reconnect kids with curiosity, community, and confidence through science that feels relevant and fun.
What We Do
From erupting with Violet the Volcano to orbiting as Sunni the Planet, children dive into themed science experiences full of stories, costumes, journals, labs, and field trips. Our sessions include everything from nature walks and museum visits to beach cleanups and invention challenges.
The Impact
Our young scientists don’t just learn facts, they grow into presenters, problem-solvers, and environmental stewards. Families tell us their children walk taller, speak louder, and dream bigger. We’ve even had students win state-level invention awards, transforming from camera-shy to stage-ready.
What Makes It Special
It’s not just a science program, it’s a celebration. We blend creativity, culture, and connection with every lesson. Whether drawing with sidewalk chalk or presenting their own inventions, our students feel seen, inspired, and empowered.

Student Spotlight:
Carter's Story
Carter joined Saturday Scientists with a big imagination and a quiet determination. What began as curiosity quickly turned into confidence as he explored science through our monthly hands-on sessions. When Carter entered the Invention Convention, he didn’t just participate—he made a powerful impact.
His invention? A single-player board game designed for people who love games but don’t always have someone to play with. Inspired by his own experience and the emotions that come with having to play alone, Carter combined creativity, empathy, and scientific thinking to design a game that offers joy and connection—even when played alone.
Carter’s invention won first place in his grade-level category, but the real victory was something deeper: he found his voice. Watching Carter light up as he shared his project, we saw the true magic of Saturday Scientists—building a space where children feel seen, valued, and inspired to imagine a better world.
We’re so proud of Carter and can’t wait to see where his inventiveness and heart take him next.
